Our Story

The Needham family has a long history of home improvement in the DFW area.  Starting in 1949, when my grandparents opened the doors of Needham Carpets  for the first time in Oak Cliff. From then on, all of the children, grandchildren and  great-grandchildren were taught their secret of running a business. It was a fairly  simple lesson: Always treat others with the same amount of respect, honesty and  integrity that you want to be treated with yourself.

In the years since, several  other items were added to the family resume. For you a period of time we sold  furniture and had a custom drapery department. We were one of the first  retailers of Casablanca ceiling fans in 1977. In 1978, years after learning to  roof houses himself, my dad, Jack Sr., combined his installation and customer  service knowledge and began to sell roofs. My mother, Kay, ran the office he  worked out of, managing crews and salesman. In 1982, he and his brothers  started Needham Roofing. Since then, it has become of the most well known  names in the industry. We were never afraid to branch out. The education earned  by hands on experience from an early age is something my cousins & I were all  fortunate enough to have. We grew up learning all aspects of the businesses,  from sales to production to installation.

We learned that word of mouth is our  greatest ally. The feeling of hearing the words from repeat customers, "I  remember buying carpet from your grandmother" or "I remember when your  grandfather sold me this" is indescribable. The goal for many of us was to be able  to make the same kind of impression as they did. That people would remember  years later how we treated them.  

Fast forward 30 years and the number of companies owned and/or operated by myself and my cousins cannot be counted on two hands. After thousands of endless negotiations with insurance carriers we met a young man who enlightened us in the possibilities of actually challenging the insurance carriers legally. We worked on multiple claims together and after understanding one another’s value we formed a partnership, Needham Rice. Our goal is to ensure each claimant recovers from any insurable loss and our philosophy remains the same as my grandparents with treating all clients with respect, honesty, and integrity.
